my name is rosemary middlebrook, thanks for visiting my tiny slice of the internet! because labels trigger my fear of commitment, I introduce myself as a multidisciplinary artist. but if you must know, The mediums I engage with most are letterpress printing, linocut printmaking, screenprinting, and hand drawn illustrations. I received my BFA in Graphic Design from Montana State University Bozeman in 2020. Coming from a design background, most of my work is driven by a desire to shift away from the screen. All of the mediums mentioned previously are ways for me to connect with the way things were made before the world became dominated by computers. while I do not totally shun the aid of technology from my work, I am sure to make a point to incorporate hand done elements into each piece or project. I believe that it is incredibly important to preserve the art of tactile, slow crafts in a world where the pace of life seems to be ever increasing. I currently live in Portland, oregon where I split my time between creating and experimenting with art, pondering the mysteries of life, and serving delicious sandwiches to the people!
